Magarey Lane Glenroy Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

The Glenroy vineyard is in northern Coonawarra on the famed Terra Rossa soil of the region. Even at 9 years of age this wine pours a bright ruby. The aromas encapsulate a surprising burst of ripe strawberries  and red cherries alongside more classic Cabernet characters of plums and black currant. There’s a lifted Earl Grey tea note, dried sage and black olives while it is smooth and silky on the palate with high levels of fine tannin and a juicy acidity. The joy of trying wines released with some age is that the savoury, earthy tertiary characters are beautifully integrated. Decant to release more brooding fruit and a distinct dark chocolate-coated blueberry flavour and fragrant tobacco box.
