Situated on an east facing slope in Red Hill planted in 1984. The grapes are destemmed with 17 days on skins and native yeast, matured in French barriques of which 25% was new for 12 months. Moody with a mosaic of purple and black fruit, cassis, plum skin, blackcurrant and lavender. Cardamom pod, salted licorice and poppy seed spice. The wines of Main Ridge are bullet proof in the cellar and often will out last many of their Victorian counterparts, here you see the fabric of finely etched texture and tannin to which the wine will ponder upon for years. If drinking now, this has the ability to stand up to oxtail or marrow but leave it in the dark of your cellar for another 8-12 years and you will thank me.
Shanteh cut her teeth at Sydney’s Award-Winning Quay restaurant where she worked for over a decade and was Head Sommelier from 2018 till 2022. She has been nominated for the Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year award on three occasions and claims that her experience as a Len Evans scholar as one of the highlights of her career.
