Margan Breaking Ground Semillon 2021

Share

Like many Hunter Semillons soon after hitting the bottle, the Breaking Ground took a little time to hit its stride. I gave this a day to settle after just a little sip and it was worth it as what started as a very closed little number built weight and plenty of interest. Pale in colour, there was classic Hunter citrus and lanolin aromas with a light touch of lime leaf before a dusting of riper guava fruits came through while still holding its youthful line. The palate then started lean and almost tart but then built texture with gentle solids earthiness providing a nice counter to citrus fruits before a long, balanced and silky finish. A very solid Hunter Semillon expression with good aging potential.
