Oliver’s Taranga Grenache 2020

Share

Fragrant, fleshy and floral, there’s plenty happening here. Grenache confection to the fore, all cherry bon bon, red licorice with plummy fruit scents. That confection trait is strong and sweet-fruited, even a touch syrupy, but it’s well countered with ripe, cherry flavours, violet, pastille notes and some savoury foresty flavours. Nice peppery pick up on the finish, too. Grenache is on a roll in McLaren Vale and, as the Oliver’s Taranga website notes, it’s only taken 180 years.
