Ottelia Coonawarra Shiraz 2019

Share

Coonawarra shiraz often gets forgotten behind the local Cabernet Sauvignon. But in the right vintage it is right up there in both power and complexity, although in a meaty style. There is a brightness and freshness to this wine that makes it hard to put down. In addition there is a savoury underbelly that slowly emerges in the glass.

It opens with concentrated red and blackcurrant aromas topped with white pepper and bay leaf complexity. It is then dry and mid weight with juicy acidity and fine tannins underlining a long finish. There is great flow, energy and balance that makes it an impressive drink to enjoy over the medium term. Match this up with a rabbit stew.
