Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with just a splash (9%) of Petit Verdot, this wine sings “Coonawarra” from the first sniff. The characteristic choc-mint is there but joined by a complexing green peppercorn spice. Classic blackcurrant fruit dances with ripe blood plums and the earthy richness of roasted eggplant. Premium oak adds pouch tobacco and cedar aromas. There’s elegance on the palate with the interplay of fruit and herbaceous characters backed up by savoury, gravelly tannins and a rocky salinity with bright acidity. There’s a lot of complexity here in a young wine and it promises to age beautifully.
