Patrick of Coonawarra Block 5 Aged Riesling 2018

Share

I honestly never tire of reviewing the latest vintage of the Block 5 Aged, as it’s one of my favourite Coonawarra wines and definitely one of my favourite Aussie Rieslings. It also highlights the benefits of cellaring Riesling, and even better if the winery can do it all for you. The Block 5 now sits pretty firmly in the tertiary realm with preserved lemon, kerosene, honey, wax and nuts, with an oily, viscous and quite full palate, still very nervy acid, and amazingly bright fruit. While it’s definitely well aged, it doesn’t mean it’s past its best, and I firmly believe it will last another 5-8 years of glorious drinking.
