Impenetrable ruby in colour with very old vines clearly on display, the wine opens with precise and focussed aromas of blackberry, mulberry and fruit pastilles lifted by tar, roasted meats and high quality oak in what is quite a graceful package. It’s undeniably powerful, but also reserved and subtle. There is then fantastic volume of fruit on the palate – wave after wave of dark berry fruits, soy sauce and black pepper flavours with measured tannins in support before a long, supple and slinky finish. So very moreish making it hard to hold back from a large glass or three.
