Patrick of Coonawarra Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Coming from vines planted in the 1970s, the quality of the fruit is consistently high. Like the 2019 Two Blocks Shiraz, the 2019 Home Block Cabernet still seems quite young, presenting a lovely mix of fruit and savoury characters, such as blackberry, mulberry, herbs, olive, dried black fruits, cigar box and ink. The tannins are chewy and well integrated, making the wine a great pairing for rich/spicy dishes, while the primary fruit makes it a great wine for simply sipping. At only 13.8% ABV, the alcohol is in check and sits in the background. Keep it for a few more years or drink it all right now – either would be a great choice.
