Petaluma White Label Pinot Noir Central Otago 2023

Share

Ripe black cherry, black plum, blueberry, tar, nutmeg and curry leaf reduction straight off. The fruit notes fill out and sweeten things up with oxygen, allowing some integration. It’s a darkly profiled wine aromatically, with a broody and slightly meaty sensibility. The palate follows suit, packed with blood plum, blueberry, and dark cherry sitting within a mouth perfume led by curry leaf and nutmeg again. Some firm, silty tannins provide nice frame and shape. This is juicy for sure, and somewhat brooding, but there’s lovely spice to add interest and a good amount of length thanks to firm tannins and persistent acidity. Best to decant at this early stage of its life.
