Peter Lehmann 8 Songs Barossa Shiraz 2021

Share

Matured for 18 months in 40% new French oak hogsheads. Just picked blackberries, top of the tree mulberries and boysenberry ripple ice cream. Blood plum, olive tapenade and rosemary. Budding and buoyant this is shockingly youthful into its 3 year life cycle. It’s certainly made with only the best grape selection and optimum barrels. The palate has it all blue, black and red berries with licks of cedar and tobacco that fall in line behind. Cinnamon quill, vanilla pod and a middle palate weight of rich cocoa. Generous in flavour but pulled in taut and terrific by its structural integrity. Tannins are silty and fine. A smart wine indeed to drink now although will cellar well for another 8-10 years. A wine for succulent lamb cutlets eaten off the bone.
