Peter Lehmann Mentor Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This is a wine you just want to dive into. It smells like blackberries so ripe they are almost falling from the bush and sun-warmed yellow peaches. It has loads of sweet baking spices – like a proper Country Womens Association (CWA) cook-up, and the end of day comfort of sinking into a leather sofa. On the palate the seduction continues with a lingering silky texture. There’s black cherries and cocoa powder intially, but pop it in a decanter to reveal its future promise – Tiramisu-like flavours of creamy mascarpone, hints of coffee and chocolate flakes. A hint of eucalyptus flirts with you on the savoury, slatey finish, supported by firm but beautifully ripe tannins.
