Pike & Joyce The Kay Reserve Chardonnay 2024

Really attractive Chardonnay from Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills. Quite light-bodied and delicate, and yet there is a deep intensity here that gradually builds with momentum through to a sustained long finish. It’s had about nine months in oak, with 15% new French. The wild yeast barrel fermentation technique has certainly built structure and texture into the palate. Has a light lift of nectarine-dominated stone fruit and a faint, bready-like character in the background. The palate displays more of that struck match influence, and it shows a precise and direct linear feel that carries the wine through to a very long finish. Everything about this wine I like.
