Drunken cherries, tonka bean and charred rhubarb. This Pinot, as I’m drinking it in 2026, is open-weaved and in a lovely stage of its life. It feels settled, yet very much holding onto a 50 youthful spirit. In the mouth, its subtlety and detail shine. Fine, framing tannins give presence, and a charryness from oak adds to the muddled strawberries, blackberry juice, snapped twigs and candied red frogs. You can identify the work here, where the sleeves were pulled up, a few whole bunches were thrown in, and the oak choices were made. All adding necessary layers. It’s a good combination of savoury, sweet and spicy. I had fun tasting it. Might even save the rest of the bottle for my rabbit stew.
