The Purple Hands Shiraz is one of the most reliable Barossa Shirazes around and I enjoy it every vintage. Rich mulberry fruit is a character I consistently see in each wine across the range, here supported by boysenberry, blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, pepper and herbs. There’s tremendous fruit sweetness, inkiness and complexity on the palate, and while the alcohol is high, it’s hidden very well, with medium body, dusty tannin, lively acid and long length. Even at two years of age it’s supremely youthful but with a bit more careful cellaring, it will get even better, although it’s drinking superbly now, either by itself or with rich/spicy food.
