Schubert Estate Le Jars Blanc Viognier 2018

Viognier is certainly one of the most distinctive of all varieties. A few years ago, it was on the verge of extinction but a few devotees in its Rhône homeland and in Australia brought it back from the brink. This is a mighty good take on this variety. Creamy and richly textured, it presents a lavish expression of Viognier yet retains a freshness and lively palate that becomes a feature. Orange blossom and honeysuckle say Viognier and then you get that further nuance of spicy ginger to heighten the impact. it also gets a little oak which adds to its textural feel.
