Seppelt Drumborg Vineyard Riesling 2021

Share

Many of the greatest wines in the world show themselves from day 1. Power, balance and complexity leap from the glass to illustrate sensational quality. This is one of those wines and a good sign for cool climate Victorian riesling from the 2021 vintage.

Pale in colour this wine instantly impresses with its brightness and purity with orchard fruit aromas of pear and apple lifted by a chalky, floral and spicy lift. It’s not shy at all but also the aromas are compact and concentrated showing a wine that is built for the long term. That is followed by a pristine palate that is dry and crisp, yet also has great texture too. It is is far away from the lean, acid driven riesling style with its mouth filling, silky fruits. But the acidity is still there and it underlies a beautifully long and slightly salty finish. It’s a superb Australian riesling that is already drinking beautifully but will also reward time hidden away in a cool, dark cellar.
