Tyrrell’s Wines HVD Semillon 2015

Share

The HVD vineyard is a key source of Tyrrell’s top semillon fruit, with this wine also regularly the best value in their semillon range, especially considering vines were planted back in 1908. There is a delicious upfront generosity to the 2015 vintage right now and a bit of colour with lemony, almost sunlight soap, citrus and green apple aromas with nice purity and precision. It’s past the reserved, tight style of young Hunter Semillon and has put on some attractive weight with good fruit concentration and crisp acid balance. HVD is not always so approachable in its youth and this vintage, with its vibrant acidity and fruit power, is a wine that is not only delicious to enjoy now but also has potential to gain more honeyed, lanolin complexity over the medium term.
