Seppelt St. Peters Grampians Shiraz 2020

Share

With a history dating back to 1964, Seppelt St Peters Shiraz has an enviable past, particularly for shiraz from the state of Victoria with 2020 an unmistakably more reserved vintage no doubt at least in part to the change in winemaking team for the final blending as well as the warm, dry season. A deep crimson colour is on display with layers of dried sage, white pepper and charcuterie aromas sitting over a bed of dark fruit pastilles and beautifully integrated oak. It’s bolder and fleshier than usual but also has retained that savoury Grampians backbone. An open-knit palate follows with impressive complexity and satin like tannins that support an array of smoked meats, mulberry and earthy tones through to a long, supple finish. An earlier drinking vintage of St Peters but a good one.
