The 2020 vintage in Coonawarra was a good one. It shows even though, at 14.5% alcohol, it might be considered on the riper side for both the grape and the region. Everything is nicely in place with some added oomph courtesy of the fruit ripeness that takes the Cabernet into warm and generous territory. It makes for an inviting wine. Bright and lifted bramble, blackberry, chocolate and liquorice. All the good things. The strength of this wine lies in the concentration of fruit – black and red berries – which is impressive and grabs your tastebuds attention in league with a volley of dark spice, mint, cedar and leafy herbal notes. Tannins are round and approachable and up to the job. Enjoyable drinking now and in the medium term.
