Shadowfax Wines Minnow Mondeuse Noir 2021

Share

There is a lovely French country wine feel here to this Mondeuse, a grape which is native to Eastern France and the Savoie region. Aromatically there is an enticing array of pretty red fruits – red cherry and raspberry with a distinctive herbal twist. It then takes a much more savoury turn with juicy dark cherry flavours well matched to hessian and chewy stalky spice while remaining bright, fresh and full of energy. There is also a genuine grip which provides backbone to a dry, spicy and lingering finish. It’s a super food wine right now, maybe gently chilled with a slab of terrine or you could also put it away for a year or two to build a bit more flesh.
