Silkwood Estate The Walcott Malbec 2018

Share

In the search for big red wines and alternatives to shiraz, more and more winemakers are turning to malbec. While often blended with cabernet sauvignon, malbec also does well by itself with full-bodied, flavoursome wines, with Western Australia’s Great Southern one region that is championing the variety. This example from Pemberton is deeply coloured with a ripe, plump and fruity style. It has layers of dark berry fruits which are lifted by some touches of earth and violets. The palate is fleshy and well balanced by acidity and sandy tannins, so perfectly suited to bangers and mash.
