Silverstream Wines Chardonnay 2018

Great winemaking on display here with plenty of effort clearly going into crafting a wine that while a cool climate style also has plenty of genuine flavour. Bright mid straw in colour, there is a good mix of pear and nectarine fruits topped by more than a dash of vanillin oak – oak fans will be happy. A dry, full-bodied and creamy palate follows with buttery notes and ample fruit well supported by balanced acidity that keeps it all in check before finishing with good length. A nice savoury crushed cashew edge helps to provide extra appeal. It’s a little old school, but good old school, and no doubt will have wide appeal.
