Silverstream Wines Pinot Noir 2018

Share

It has taken a little bit of time but Western Australia’s Great Southern is now a region to watch for pinot noir with its particularly savoury local style. No fruit bombs here – just brooding, earthy scented wines that show the darker side of pinot. Mid cherry red in colour, there is a delicious array of fruits from beetroot through to raspberry and cranberry before launching into baked earth, dark soil and subtle, spicy oak. It’s then quite bold in the mouth showing dark fruit flavours and layers of spice with sappy tannins and tangy acidity providing a solid base. That acid cut makes it ideally suited to posh sausage rolls.
