Small Victories Rosé 2022

There is a lot to like about Australian Rosé at the moment. It once played second fiddle to its counterparts but these wines are rivaling their European competitors who have been market leaders in this category for so long. From esteemed vineyards in Greenock, Barossa and Murtho, Grenache plays the lead role in this compilation, a perfumed hit of crushed raspberries, red cherry and liquorice. The bright red fruits on the nose transition to the palate which is moreish and decadent. The Mataro gives some extra punch to the performance with that pillowy, cuddly mouthfeel but still delivers a dry, refreshing finish. Dark red cherry, blood orange and watermelon dominate the fruit profile, alongside some white pepper and meaty notes. This wine can handle some decent heat so I’m going down the curry path – Wagyu Beef Massaman Curry packed with all pungent spices – cardamon, nutmeg, coriander, cumin and cloves.
