Taltarni Pyrenees Pinot Noir 2023

Share

I was thoroughly impressed by this Pinot as soon as I twisted open the screwcap. It begins with resonant fruity and savoury characters, quite high toned and perfumed. Raspberry predominates, with a ripe core to it that gives the wine a jubey/confectionery edge. There’s some added strawberry and black cherry, too, some stemminess, forest floor and musk. On the palate, the characters turn dark with a bit of air – more of a black raspberry and wild strawberry quality – as the wine shows refined, silky yet also full-flavoured and juicy attributes, with lots of structure. The tannins come out to play a bit more on the second night, becoming powdery yet never overwhelming. A highly enjoyable drop which should cellar for a few more years and become even better.
