The Lane Vineyard LDR Adelaide Hills 2025

LDR – Light Dry Red – is a blend of Pinot Noir and Shiraz and, almost true to name, is a light-ish dry red that comes with quite a surprising level of weight and substance. Aromas of cherry, black berries, blueberry with lifted violet florals, gentle woody spices and earth. That earthiness runs a little deeper on the palate with additional lines of leaf and dried autumnal notes. The varietal mix works well, each variety bringing something to the whole with the added touch of cool climate Shiraz spiciness contributing a rousing pepperiness.  The producer may need to seek out another name because while it is undoubtedly vibrant and energetic and medium bodied, it is also seriously good.
