Thorn-Clarke William Randell Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Share

The 2018 vintage was a warm one, hence the richness in this wine. It was also considered a good year, hence the natural balance on show. While flavours are rich, ripe and warm, they remain nicely corralled by fine, dense Cabernet tannins and vibrant acidity. It’s a balancing act performed especially well. Colour is impenetrable and deep in red-garnet. Mulberries, cassis, blueberries, chocolate, cassia bark, clove, nutmeg, Christmas cake aromas. It’s expansive, sweet and lifted. Well composed, the palate is nicely tended in dark fruits, spice, dried herbs and chocolatey, woodsy oak. Eden Valley is a region noted for spicy Shiraz. Glad to see Cabernet Sauvignon standing up tall and making its mark.
