Tim Adams Skilly Ridge Riesling 2020

Share

A rather special single vineyard Riesling from the Clare Valley. Planted in 1994, by the Ingram family, this is also where Tim Adams and his family call home, since they purchased it in 2014. The vineyard, a mix of clay, loam and shale, enjoys an easterly aspect. Only free run juice is used, after the grapes are crushed, chilled and clarified, before ferment for two weeks at 12-14°C by way of cultured yeasts. This 2020 is the fourth release under this label and is part of Tim’s Single Vineyard series, which replaced his Reserve Range.

The wine is a limpid pale yellow with flecks of green. Beautifully aromatic and fresh, with florals, spices, fresh garden herbs and citrus, especially grapefruit. There is good crunchy acidity, real persistence and the intensity is maintained along the full length of the palate. Finely balance throughout, it has a good decade ahead of it, perhaps longer for well cellared examples.
