Tyrrell’s Vat 9 Shiraz 2023

Share

Crushed violet, white pepper and grilled meat notes sit above plum preserves and cherry molasses. Air unlocks beautiful savoury notes of iodine, black olive tapenade, au jus, sautéed mushroom and clove, which take this wine to another level of pure hedonistic joy. There’s some nuttiness from the oak too. The palate is suave and velvety, with a gratifying mix of dark fruits and savoury spice. Plum, black cherry and blackberry sit within black pepper, black olive and brown spice before ribbons of firm iodine/graphite tannins provide frame and long carry. There’s a subtle cool-menthol note through the finish adding interest. This is all class, showing elegance, balance and brilliant complexity.
