Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Brunnen Pinot Noir 2021

Share

Fulsome and lifted aromas from first pour. A gorgeous melding of berry cake, chocolate sponge, earth, and ferrous complexity. It’s deep and alluring with pops of fresh blueberry and raspberry emerging with air, and some spice too. Excellent Pinot Noir with a real old-world sensibility. A swirl of the glass brings the earthen savouriness out along with a cut of fresh minerals keeping it clean. The palate is immediately cooling on account of the minerality and has some sap to it despite being mostly whole berry ferment. There’s some tightness to the fruit at this stage of its life, but it’s all there and waiting to pounce. Forest berries, earth, mineral, and a lovely hit of cacao nib bitterness are framed by fine, chalky tannins and berry drenched acidity that builds waves and waves of length. Savouriness and fruit holding hands, everything in its place, impeccable finesse, intensity, and length. Very good.
