While the Paradox Shiraz comes from the northern Barossa, famed for its bold styles, Yalumba purposefully take a gentle approach to make a more subtle wine, thus the paradox. And it is most definitely elegant with layers of spicy dark cherry fruits with touches of leather and baked earth. There is an attractive fleshiness and approachability too, the tannins supple and integrated, the flavours expressive and open knit while delivering surprising length. This wine is ready to go but decant to see its best.
