Share

Yalumba are one of the few companies that have stuck with grenache through thick and thin. When times were tough for this grape variety, and they were for a long time, Yalumba creating a long tradition of crafting delicious wines from old bush vines. This is one their top grenache releases and is made with fruit from vines planted back in 1949. The vineyard is located on the sandy soils of Vine Vale, which are widely recognised as some of these best in the Barossa for grenache.

This wine beautifully encapsulates all that is great about this variety with its moreish red berry fruits lifted by touches of spice and rose petal – it’s super pretty and instantly invites a second or third glass. The palate is then bright, fresh and long – cranberry fruits sit on a bed of sandy tannins. Slowly savoury earthy, meaty elements also emerge before a long and generous finish. A super vintage of this wine, which will drink well up to 8 years.
