Yelland & Papps YP Shiraz 2024

Share

Here we have a Shiraz made up of parcels from across the valley, including some declassified from Yelland & Papps’ single-vineyard selections. Wild-fermented and matured in seasoned French oak.

Plum, black cherry, leather, pepper spice, cocoa powder and black olive notes mark the beginnings of a juicy and approachable Barossa Shiraz. The spice and black-olive elements build into the wine more with air. It’s all about juicy black fruits on the palate – dark cherry, plum, blackberry – with the pepper and olive notes lingering in the background. It’s medium-bodied and easy, bouncing around the mouth before some gentle cocoa-powder-laced tannins provide shape. A BBQ vibe here, sitting nicely in the juicy red zone at $32 retail.
