1847 Gully Winds Reserve Barossa Shiraz 2022

This was a marvelous season in the Barossa and this is a super example of what was produced in that year. Perhaps not the opulence of the wines of 2021, but instead wines of more finesse and elegance, still with tremendous flavor intensity which is captured on a super concentrated, elegantly structured palate. The nose shows a licorice-y mocha character overlaying the darker black fruits. The palate has a rich and slightly unctuous mouthfeel with tremendous density and flavor concentration. It’s a wine of poise, structure, and ultimately balance that’s harnessed through to a sustained, very long finish. Excellent wine.
