Alkina Estate Grenache 2024

Share

From a mix of old-vine Grenache parcels on clay and limestone. Each fermented separately with 80–100% whole bunch, 25–30 days on skins, then 12 months in concrete before blending. Certified organic. Lovely translucency in the glass, glowing ruby. Raspberry coulis, red cherry and strawberry pastille lead before a cut by white pepper spice. A swirl of the glass brings pressed rose, red liquorice, crushed rock and warm sand earthiness beneath the lifted red fruits. The palate is buoyant and bright with raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and pepper spice, supported by dried florals and that same sandy earth. Grainy, rounded texture is offset by firm, grainy tannins through a long finish. There’s huge interest and intrigue here for its lift and shape, definition and drive.
