Anvers Syrah 2022

Share

Handpicked fruit with around 25% whole bunches in an old open fermenter with hand plunging. Matured in French oak hogsheads of which 12% was new. Some wild forestry notes that leap from the glass. Thistle, turned leaves and kicked up soil which is followed by a pool of red cherries, rhubarb and blackcurrants. Some savoury notes of kombu and hulled hemp. On the palate the wine’s elevation shows in its swing of acidity and soft mellow tannins. Some cola and carob round out a creamy finish. This is in a nice drinking spot, with its hues of berries well contrasted by its earthly garrigue and underbrush notes. This would enliven a meal with roast meats, a herby sauce. Or beef roast and a peppery salad. Drink now.
