Auld Family Wines Wilberforce Riesling 2021

Some wine names make no sense at all – a relic of history that does not connect with the wine. But not so much here with this wine quite a forceful and powerful style of riesling. It’s definitely not one of those pale reserved Eden Valley styles – it packs quite a punch with generous pear and citrus fruits plus a dusting of potpourri over the top providing that classic Eden subtlety. The palate is then dry and crisp with orchard fruit flavours and an attractive textural richness which makes it a super food friendly style for richer seafood dishes; a fancy fish pie would be a good place to start.
