From the Tipsy Hill Vineyard in the Blewitt Springs district of McLaren Vale, this is one heck of a heavyweight Cabernet, measuring 14.8% abv, smelling truly of its variety at the rich and ripe end, blackberry jam waiting for some whipped cream, herbal wafts and sweeter florals, lavender and spearmint. All up a big mouthful in any language, 20 months maturation in 30% new French oak hogshead barrels putting a fair bit of hair on the chest, a thicket of tannins in the end play. A big-gun Cabernet Sauvignon for lovers of that style. Carve a standing rib roast and let the troubles of the world float away.
