Berrigan Mount Benson Shiraz 2021

Share

Winemaker/ vigneron Dan Berrigan and partner Wendi Ticao work two family vineyards in two regions, this from Mount Benson in SA’s Limestone Coast, the vines cooled by the Southern Ocean just three kilometres away where the cold-water Bonney Upwelling is a serious temperature abating influence in the ripening season. So, this Shiraz is about cool-climate styling, dark, dark purple in the glass, fabulously aromatic to begin with crushed blue and black berry fruit and vibrant violet florals calling the shots. Once you’re sipping, these remain full strength with notable intensity enhanced by attractive French oak spice and pert tannins, the underlying structure driving long finishing reverberations of all the good stuff that’s come before.
