Fresh from the Kilnhouse Vineyard in the Alpine Valleys and full of driving, crunchy acidity and a palate saline and briskly alert. Vermentino brings a cool climate edge to the glass that suits it well. Sea spray, saline, almost neutral in aroma with hints of green apple and grapefruit. Streamlined across the palate and led by keen acidity, it’s subtle in flavour – a trad approach which makes it a natural in food matching – showing hints of dried herbs among the lemon, grapefruit and apple. This style shows the other side to the Vermentino grape, the citrussy, saline side achieved at lower ripeness and it’s mighty enjoyable, especially at the table with a platter of fritto misto.
