Bleasdale Wellington Road G.S.M. 2019

Share

Here’s a little mystery for you. Generally, a G.S.M. signals a blend of grenache, shiraz and mourvèdre. But apart from the letters G.S.M. on the bottle label there is no mention of individual grapes, and the Bleasdale website only cites grenache and shiraz. The drinker can certainly take it as read that there is most definitely grenache and shiraz involved here. The former brings its sweet confection fruit – cherry bon bon and blackcurrant pastille – to this delightful little wine party in a glass. The latter contributes a solid base of dark spiced plums and mellow, smooth tannins. Quite a delightful, well-built blend. Is there a little mourvèdre lurking here, too? Is it that slight leafiness or the floral aromatics of rose and violet? You be the judge.
