Brand & Sons Glenroy Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021

Share

This Shiraz plays a compelling game of push and pull, initially suggesting weight and ponderousness before shifting gears with an elegant lift of vibrant fruit at its core. Complex and brooding, it balances ripe richness with firm structure, while the fruit provides brightness and lift throughout. The nose opens with charred oak, layered with tomato bush, earth, and subtly sweet clove, before unfolding deep notes of dark plum, black cherry, dried herbs, grilled meat, olive tapenade, liquorice, and mocha. It’s savoury and intense—a high-octane expression of Shiraz. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and richly flavoured, with ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry jam, cedar, earth, liquorice, mocha, and vanilla all commanding attention. Firm yet fine tannins frame the finish, supported by a push of black cherry acidity that cleanses the palate. At 15% ABV, there is some warmth, but it remains well-controlled, thanks to a core of defined, lifted fruit and elegant structure. A decade in the cellar should reveal the full potential of this powerful wine.
