Bremerton Walter’s Reserve Cabernet 2018

Walter’s Reserve exacts every inch of personality out of the Cabernet grape. Oozes character in varietally strident scents of blackberry, black cherry, cedar, earth, spice and dried herbs. It is highly fragrant, arrestingly so, a welcome introduction to what follows. This is one of those wines that changes every time you return to it. At once, it is dense and solid in Cabernet flavour and oak. With time and a swish or two, it is more elegant and structured with firm tannins delivering good line and length. All the while the flavour intensity of black berry fruit and dried herbs prevails with a splash of vanillin oak lift. While the delineation of fruit and oak remains a little unresolved, it will meld. Give it time.
