Gundog Indomitus Rutilus 2024

Share

Winemaker Matt Burton is in his happy place with the Indomitus range revealing an inner creative flair that takes him into what, on the surface, appears to be the familiar but is far from it.  On the surface, this is a Hilltops blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo and Grenache. Under that surface you experience a wine of both power and finesse, a tricky wine minefield to explore and it’s done with great style. Sour cherries, black cherries, plum, red liquorice, spice, earth and thyme aromas. Restraint – at the inner heart of the Indomitus style – is beautifully captured while still retaining full flavours in black and red fruits, lively spice, chocolate, red liquorice, leaf and light savouriness. A lovely wine nicely restrained in structure and savoury tannins and finishing on a savoury sour cherry high note that zings.
