Richard Hamilton Centurion Old Vines Shiraz 2020

Share

We all need a silver lining and here it is nestled in McLaren Vale. After the challenges of the 2020 vintage across the country the resilience of these 1892 planted vines shows us hope in the midst of turmoil. Black forest cherries, boysenberry, Cypress pine needle and cracked clay. The wine unfurls from tight coils of concentrated black berries into reticent notes of allspice, fig leaf and morel mushroom. Tannins are suave and held tightly by acute acidity.  It’s a wine that is rewarded with timely observation and a good decant. A wine to be enjoyed with the music of cicadas, colors of dusk and an appreciation for the land that offers it all but takes just as swiftly. One for the cellar.
