Leasingham Classic Clare Watervale Riesling 2016

More reserved aromatically, opening slowly to reveal dehydrated lime, lime cake, pastry dough and citrus preserves, the latter bringing a subtle salty–umami nuance. The palate is bold and mouth-filling, driven by lime cordial and preserved lime before broadening into the softer, leesy dough notes that permeate the mouth perfume. A chalk-dust grip along the sides lends definition and reins in the weight, guiding it towards an unctuous finish. A generous museum Riesling — less about precision, more about sheer, mouth-coating flavour.
