Brokenwood Rosato 2021

Share

A prettiest blush pink hue on the 2021 Rosato. I’ll go as afar to say it’s almost too pretty, like witnessing cascading apple blossoms in season. Its OTT gorgeous. Abundant alpine strawberries, tangerine and tiny fragrant wild roses and musk melon. The palate delivers a delicate freshness for all its sweet berry promises and the line of pure mineral acidity is the star.

Between suggestions of wet stone there are hints of watermelon rind and just ripe strawberries.  The dry as a bone finish is very reminiscent of European Rosatos in that the structure is where the wine shines. For such a powerhouse of a winery the consideration to making this Rosato is evident. Assemblage of variety, fermentation vessels and texture all add to make for quite the show stopping wine.

Pair with anything but please no finger sandwiches or cupcakes. Think chargrilled octopus, with ruby red grapefruit segments and good glugs of olive oil.
