Castel Firmian Pinot Nero 2023

Bottled under Diam, Pinot Nero is the Italian name for the more familiar Pinot Noir, this example is from the Trentino region. Different, surely, but still most enjoyable. A russet/garnet hue, this is a savoury style with notes of mushrooms, bay leaves, spices, animal skins, red fruits, dried herbs and roast meats on the nose. There is some gentle grip on the finish and the wine is of medium length. Some sappy/briary touches throughout, but it is those alluring aromas that really stand out. Should provide pleasure over the next four to six years.
