Chain of Ponds Unchained Grüner Veltliner 2021

Greg Clack is the current winemaker at Chain of Ponds learning from the wisdom of the Estate’s founder Neville Falkenberg. Secrets most definitely were passed down on handling the cool climate fruit of the Hills. The 2021 Grüner Veltliner is a prime example of that. Picked from the Berrigan Shining Rock vineyard it’s impossible not to find this wine charming and disarming.
Pristine and pure lime juice, golden delicious apple and kiwi. On the palate it’s juicy and linear and then a savory edge that really showcases that ‘hard to describe’ Grüner Veltliner flavour. For some it’s white pepper, others it’s white radish. For me it’s crunching into celery heart straight from the fridge. The three month lees aging has kept the frame of the wine and palate length long. It’s a wine absolutely everybody would enjoy.
